Oil/Acrylic on gessoed panel

This is an image I’ve returned to repeatedly. I first drew and painted this coal-fired power station, which once sat by the Regent’s Canal just around the corner from Lord’s Cricket Ground, over 30 years ago. It’s almost as if everything is going backwards. Coal is once again in the news, with the mooted Kingsnorth power station in Medway, Kent due to be powered by the black stuff - possibly. Green campaigners are up in arms. You can see why. I’ve certainly needed to use more black paint than green when painting the various images. Salmon, so far as I know, have failed to return to the canal.
