They’ve always looked like pagodas to me. I imagine they are insulators of some kind. You see them everywhere on electrical installations. I love their functional quality. They are inherently purposeful, practical, operational. They’re not designed to look good, they’re made to work. Nothing more. That’s what gives them their grace. And the brilliant colour! It’s straight off a catwalk at some international fashion parade. Most of all I love their invisibility. They bestride the country in their thousands but no one ever notices them. They dance their dance unheeded as the world passes by.
