The 30” x 40” picture, ‘Dune’, was painted over a period of six months - using acrylics on a gessoed panel - in the winter of 2010-2011. The scene depicted is Cape Cod, the famous island and cape in the state of Massachusetts, in the northeast United States. The dunes in the area are part of the Cape's barrier beach. It’s said the cape is one of the biggest barrier islands in the world, shielding much of the Massachusetts coastline from North Atlantic storm waves. The original idea for the painting came from an image by the American artist and photographer, Rein Nomm. The painting was selected for and sold from the 2011 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. The Royal Academy also published a greetings card and a separate postcard featuring the painting.
